About the U.S. National Parks Typography Poster
The U.S. National Parks Typography Poster is 13″ x 19″ and printed on “Conservation,” a 100% recycled, domestically produced paper stock with soy-based inks. It is an original work by Robert Decker. The National Parks Typography Poster features the names of all 62 National Parks -- all in the shape of the United States! The name of each park is styled in the classic 1935 National Park font, giving it a bit of a retro look-and-feel. The size of each park name is weighted to the total number of annual visits...so it's kind of like a tag cloud! From start to finish, each poster is 100% American Made.
About America's National Parks
The United States has 62 protected areas known as National Parks that are operated by the National Park Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior. National parks must be established by an act of the United States Congress. The first National Park, Yellowstone, was signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1872. The Organic Act of 1916 created the National Park Service “to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and wildlife therein, and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations.” Seven U.S. National Parks (including six in Alaska) are paired with a National Preserve, areas with different levels of protection that are administered together but considered separate units.

About the Artist
Photographer and graphic artist Rob Decker studied photography with Ansel Adams in Yosemite National Park during the summer of 1979 when he was just 19. It was an experience solidified his love of photography and our National Parks. Now he is on a journey to photograph and create iconic WPA-style posters of all 62 major U.S. National Parks as we celebrate the next 100 years of the National Park Service.
"I feel it’s important to protect America’s special places, and to connect people with nature. And it’s up to all of us to pitch in. Perhaps more importantly, we need to inspire the next generation of park stewards. I’m trying to make a difference by giving back to the amazing organizations that support our National Parks. I donate 10% of annual profits, so when you buy one of these original works, you're helping these trusts, conservancies and associations, too."
